Molecular Imaging toward Precision Medicine SY16-1 Brain Tumor MRS Imaging at 3T and 7T: 2-Hydroxyglutarate and Glycine
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cancers reprogram metabolism, resulting in alterations in metabolite concentrations. Accumulation of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) is a direct consequence of specific mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 and 2 in gliomas. The incidence of IDH mutation is high (> 70%) in WHO grade-2 and grade-3 gliomas and secondary glioblastomas. The mutations are associated with 2 3 fold longer patient survival compared to IDH wild-type tumors. Glycine (Gly) is markedly elevated in malignant brain tumors and thus may be a biomarker of tumor aggressiveness. Noninvasive and precise analyses of 2HG and Gly in brain tumors may therefore have significant clinical utility in patient care.

Detection of Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumor in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Based on Support Vector Machine
Introduction: The brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain, which is one of the most important challenges in neurology. Brain tumors have different types. Some brain tumors are benign and some brain tumors are cancerous and malignant. Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. The average survival rate for peo...
متن کاملDifferentiation of Edematous, Tumoral and Normal Areas of Brain Using Diffusion Tensor and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging
Background: Presurigical planning for glioma tumor resection and radiotherapy treatment require proper delineation of tumoral and peritumoral areas of brain. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most common mathematical model applied for diffusion weighted MRI data. Neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) is another mathematical model for DWI data modeling. Objective: We stud...

Obstructive hydrocephalus caused by tectal glioma, which relived by neuroendoscopy, have been described using 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (3T MRI) so far, we present the results obtained from 3T and 7T MRI in this patient. A 21-year-old woman presented at our hospital with gait disturbance, hormonal insufficiency, and urinary incontinence that began prior to 6 years of age. 3.0T MRI re...
متن کاملA comparison of 3T and 7T in the detection of small parenchymal veins within MS lesions.
OBJECTIVE Histologic examination of multiple sclerosis (MS) brain lesions reveals heterogeneity including the presence or absence of a central blood vessel. Recent work has shown that T2* weighted magnetic resonance imaging at 7T allows the identification of small parenchymal veins within MS lesions. The aims of this study were (1) to compare whether a comparable sequence at 3T was also capable...

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a powerful noninvasive tool that has been widely used for the assessment of brain metabolites and the investigation of normal and abnormal metabolism in brain tissue. With the availability of improved hardware and acquisition techniques, in vivo single-voxel 1H-MRS and multivoxel magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) can offer new possib...
